Electric Scooter
There are 3 kinds of mobility or power transport devices that BMS rents and sells regularly.
- Power Wheelchair
- 3 or 4 Wheeled Scooter
- Power or Mobility Chair
These devices all have ranges up to 16 miles under ideal circumstances (i.e., Fully charged, level surface, no inclines, lightweight user, etc.) Each device has advantages and disadvantages for clients with specific needs. Having rented this type of equipment for some time BMS has developed general criteria to know what to recommend for a customers specific needs.

4 Wheeled Scooters
These vehicles vary in weight, ease of storability, transportability and have distinct footprints. Scooters are either three or four wheeled. Four wheeled vehicles can have the some of the biggest footprints of the devices. A four wheel batteries and captains seat can be removed to make it lighter to handle. Still, some four wheels base can weigh up to 70 lbs.
Four Wheeled Scooters are recommended for:
- Indoor Use
- Outdoor Use on any surface except sand (grass OK)
- Some Bariatric clients

3 Wheeled Scooters
Three wheeled vehicles can have the some of the smallest footprints of the devices. A three wheel batteries and captains seat can be removed to make it lighter to handle and on most models the handlebars fold down also. The three wheel base can weigh up to 40 lbs. Scooters are ovbiously maneuvered with handlebars. They are recommended for the elderly or people with manual dexterity issues.
Three Wheeled Scooters are recommended for:
- Indoor Use
- Outdoor Use on most surfaces except sand or grass
